Lookout Home Run King Roy Hawes Dies

Roy Hawes, who played six seasons with the Lookouts in the 1950s with his best year in 1959 as he batted .299 with 138 hits, 16 HRs and 53 RBIs, has died..

Roy was a resident of Ringgold, Georgia at the time of passing.

He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served during W.W.II, a member of the Ringgold First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, was a former employee of the Catoosa County Sheriff's Department where he served as a Bailiff for 14 years and was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Quitman Masonic Lodge.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 10, 2017 at the Ringgold First Baptist Church with Pastor Eric Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow at the Baxter Addition of Anderson Cemetery.

Fight Breaks Out During Friday Dismissal At Central High School

Earlier Friday afternoon, during dismissal at Central High School, a fight broke out, at which time the SRO assigned to the campus called for additional deputies to respond to the school to assist.  The fight involved several students.
