Dalton Public Schools Employee Convocation Kicks Off 2018-19 School Year

All Dalton Public Schools employees will gather for convocation on Aug. 1, their first day back from summer break, to celebrate the start of the 2018-19 school year. The district will honor each school’s Teacher of the Year and announce the winner of the District Teacher of the Year.

The guest speaker will be Casey M. Bethel, the 2017 Georgia Teacher of the Year and an AP Physics, AP Biology and Physical Science teacher from New Manchester High in Douglasville, Georgia. 

The convocation will be from 9-11:30 a.

m. at the Wink Theatre, 115 W Crawford St. in Dalton.

Brennan Wilson, 26, was killed in an accident on Sunday on Highway 153. The Chattanooga Police Department's Traffic Unit responded at approximately 7:56 p.m. to a fatality crash at 5200 Highway 153. Woman Who Stole Almost $2 Million From Lookout Mountain Art Dealer To Plead Guilty To Federal Bank Fraud

A bookkeeper for Lookout Mountain art dealer Frank Fowler who stole almost $2 million from him is now facing federal bank fraud charges. Authorities said Francine Labbe has agreed to plead guilty in the case. Prosecutor said Ms. Labbe embezzled $1,954,083. With interest, the amount owed to Mr. Fowler was over $2 million.
